what a beautiful day! the weather was so nice today and i spent most of it outside. i went to the res to meet up with friends and enjoy the sun, and then we all went to dinner at the crawdad hole.

day 22: photo shoots
so i thought i would switch out the background of my photo shoot, so i dragged lauren to alli's office to take my picture of the day.
1. my desk
2. alli's office
3. the cave
4. the pit
5. the kitchen
i think the only place i haven't taken a picture in is the kitchen. i'll have to do that in the next 8 days!

day 18-21: yeah... i'm bad at taking pictures
this weekend i went to winston-salem, nc to sign my contract and go through my first round of orientation. of course, i managed to take zero pictures so here is a recap of the clothes:
day 18- striped shirt, gap jeans, ballet flats
i landed in greensboro and rabbi josh picked me up from the airport. i got to see a little bit of downtown w-s and go to a really funky coffee shop. that night i went to services and was introduced to the congregation. everyone was so nice!
day 19- white shirt, black pants, black flats
i went to a bat mitzvah in the morning and then to the most amazing kiddish luncheon. i also got a chance to look at my house for next year and talk to rabbi mark about what house sitting would be like. that night i went to a beautiful bat mitzvah party and ate way too much food.
day 20- purple shirt, gap jeans, ballet flats
sunday school! i got the chance to meet the kids and the education committee. i was also able to lead a few activities and meet with josh about our calendar next year.
it was a great visit and i cannot wait to get started.
as for day 21...
and here we are, being silly:

day 17: gyros
day two of my hair cut went very nicely. i got a lot of work done and now i am ready to go to winston-salem tomorrow. today i brought back my cargo pants and added one of mom's old necklaces.

day 16: new haircut
so i have wanted short hair for a really long time. my long hair never really looked right... so today i decided to do something about it.
also, i drank one of these this morning and they are supposed to make your skin glow and your hair grow faster, so it should be back to normal in no time!
tonight i am going to macy's new house to help hang mezuzot and eat spinach lasagna... and you know how i feel about spinach lasagna.

day 15: half way there
today is sara silverman's birthday!
of course i had to take my picture of the day with the birthday girl.
if this blog has taught me anything, it is that if you are going to be taking a picture everyday, you should wear make up everyday. oh, and wash your hair.
i am half way there! only 15 more outfits to go!
day 14: sick and tired
i took this picture right before i left work to go home sick.
day 11-13
so this past weekend i went to new orleans and didn't take any pictures of my outfits. so here is a quick overview.
day 11: beige shirt, jeggings, boots. we headed down to new orleans and i got to explore bourbon street and go to a casino for the first time. i won $180 on the slot machines!
day 12: purple shirt, skinny jeans, ballet flats. i walked around the french quarter and went to the junk market. i also found this bar that had the same name as me!

day 10: i've made it so far
i made it to day 10!
(p.s. that is emily and claire's office, otherwise kn0wn as "the cave.")
day 9: hebrew
right after i took my picture for day 8, my necklace broke.
i think that i stole it from my mom's jewelry box, so, sorry mom!
lauren and i forgot to take pictures until we got to hebrew school.
here is my outfit for day 9:

day 7: super cold
it is super cold here.
but not fun, play in the snow, super cold. icy, windy, gross kind of cold.
so i decided to wear sparkles:
i'm not sure why i wanted to pose with the recycling bin, but there are not many options in my office. hopefully i will find some fun new places to pose in the next few day.
also, i know i am a day behind. there was a big ice storm on sunday and i ended up wearing my pjs all day. you don't want to see a picture of that, believe me. so i will just add another day on!
i hope you are having a wonderful week and staying warm!

day 6: the blues
so saturday was the mississippi blues marathon.
last year i woke up at 5am to get ready to run in the race, but this year i slept until 10. i didn't think i was going to be in town for the race and i am sad i didn't get to run this year. after the race they have a big blues pub crawl that they put together for the participants. basically you pay 5 dollars and then you get to take a shuttle to different blues performances in jackson.
this is what i wore:
this is what one of the bands wore:
we had a great time, but i was tired so i went home a little early.
but not before i took another picture with fredman!

day 5: no makeup
so i stayed up past my 9:30 bedtime and when i woke up i chose not to wear makeup.
so you can see my outfit, but not my face.
just kidding! you can see my face.
this was a day when i was happy to only have 30 pieces to choose from so i didn't have to think about what i was going to wear. however, this is my go-to comfortable outfit and now i can't use it for the rest of the month. oh well! i guess i will just have to get a little creative.
i was supposed to go to the lake this weekend and a have a fabulous time with some good friends, but because of scheduling conflicts i can't go. super sad face.
so here is what is on the agenda for the weekend now:
1. elvis impersonator (a downtown at dusk event)
2. running
3. black swan
4. blues tour and pub crawl (part of the mississippi blues marathon weekend)
5. finding accessories for my formal dress (borrowing from friends. don't worry, i'm not shopping!)
6. oh... and a winter storm advisory, which i'm hoping means snow!
should be fun.
have a great weekend!
day 4 continued: ladies night edition
so thursday night in jackson is ladies night so i went out with all my lady friends.
i didn't dress up but i stuck to my 30 for 30 rules!
we had a great time and danced a lot. what else would you do on ladies night?

day 4: jeggings? really?
so jeggings.
not quite jeans, not quite leggings.
i swore i would never own them, let alone wear them. let alone wear them to work. but guess what, people, they are awesome. i am professing my love for jeggings right here and now and i won't take it back.
check out my jeggings in my day 4 outfit.
and here i am with my jegging twin and fellow 30 for 30er, lauren.
we accidently kind of matched today, which seems to happen a lot at my job.
tonight is return of jersey shore and ladies night... i wonder what i will come up with for day 4: ladies night edition?

day 3: cargo pants
today was cargo pants day. i know what you are thinking. cargo pants? really? that is soooooo 1997.
well surprise! i'm bringing them back!
here is my day 3 outfit:

dear blog friends,
meet grant.
grant is studying to be an actuary, which involves really intense math.
my bffer jokingly asked grant to figure out exactly how many combinations of outfits i could possibly put together. so funny, right? who would really do the math and come up with a real answer?
grant would.
this was his answer:
"In a situation like this where one is to pick one of X number of A, one of X number of B, and so on, to find the total possible number of combinations one would multiply the number of A times the number of B times ... So for Molly's example (if she had to wear one of each item every day) the total possible number of combinations would be 10 (tops) x 1 (dress) x 6 (pants) x 2 (skirts) x 6 (cardigans/jackets) x 5 (pairs of shoes) = 3,600 possible combinations. The major flaw in this is that she wouldn't wear one of each item every day (pants would not be worn with skirts nor the dress, etc.) and some items may not have to be worn (cardigans/jackets are optional?). If only I knew what could be worn with what, perhaps (definitely) I could figure out the total number of possible combinations...
Mathematically, the 30 for 30 challenge shouldn't be difficult.
Mathematically, the 30 for 30 challenge shouldn't be difficult.
However, understanding how women dress- much more challenging...
In this case, the answer would be as follows: for 10 tops, 1 dress, 6 pants, 2 skirts, 6 cardigans/jackets, and 5 pairs of shoes
(10 x 6 x 5) (tops, pants, shoes)
+ (10 x 6 x 5 x 6) (tops, pants, shoes, cardigans/jackets)
+ (10 x 2 x 5) (tops, skirts, shoes)
+ (10 x 2 x 5 x 6) (tops, skirts, shoes, cardigans/jackets)
+ (1 x 5) (dress, shoes)
+ (1 x 6 x 5) (dress, cardigans/jackets, shoes)
= 2,835 possible combinations.
Yes, so it looks like Molly could dress uniquely for the next 7.7618 years with the clothes she's picked out- that would be a challenge..."

day 2: coffee break
i'll get to my outfit of the day in a minute.
first, you have to check out this hilarious coffee mug i found at work.
and now for day number two of 30 for 30!
today was pretty easy, besides the fact that i wore my heels all day. but i already learned my first 30 for 30 lesson. i found my necklace at my mom's shop about a year ago and i have never worn it, but i got a ton of complements on it today. i am already beginning to dig through my accessories to make different outfits. what a break through.

day 1: this is going to be a breeze
today was my first day of the 30 for 30 fashion challenge. so far this is pretty easy. i like all of the clothes i picked out, so it was hard to choose an outfit this morning.
here's what i ended up with:

30 for 30
i was raised in a resale clothing store, so i know the value of a dollar and how ridiculous it is to spend too much money on clothing. i have always had access to a ton of clothing and because of that i often had times when i was not able to close my closet door. since i moved out on my own, i have started to edge away from my frugal upbringing. (mint.com told me that i spend over $200 on clothes last month. yikes!)
well it is the beginning of a new year and the perfect time for resolutions, changes, and challenges. it is time for me to learn how to use what i have in my closet to the fullest and i plan to do this by taking the 30 for 30 challenge. kendi from kendi everyday created the challenge and it is designed to help you figure out how to use your closet in interesting ways.
basic rules:
1. pick out 30 pieces of clothing from your wardrobe and for 30 days you can only wear those 30 items.
2. accessories, underwear, pjs, coats, and workout clothes don't count.
3. you can never wear the same exact outfit twice.
so there you go. that is what i am doing for the next 30 days. i was inspired to take the challenge by my friend lauren. you can follow her experience with 30 for 30 here.
here are my picks for the next 30 days!
10 tops
i hope that adds up to 30... i was an english major after all.
wish me luck!
hello
i am so excited to start this new blog adventure.
